WHAT IS SEWING YOGA? Sewing yoga is a yoga program developed with the seamstress in mind.In addition to being a yoga instructor, I am also a seamstress. When I first started sewing, I realized pretty quickly that sitting at a sewing machine was very hard work, not to mention the hooping, ironing, cutting, lifting bolts of fabric, etc. caused alot of neck, shoulder, back, and leg pain. This led me down an extraordinary path that has helped me and my hope is it will help you too. Sewing Yoga consists of special breathing techniques to relax and oxygenate the body relieving stress, and postures to stretch, release, and strengthen muscles that are effected most, increasing circulation, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. The whole program can be done in a half hour and some things can even be done at your sewing bench. For more information or to have Sewing Yoga at your next sewing event contact Kat at kat@activekatyoga.com or call 573-996-5016.

What people are saying about Sewing Yoga..............

I tried your DVD and WOW!!!!! It was amazineg! I am familiar with most yoga postures and I really like the modified versions for targeting muscles for people like me who spend most of the day on their desks. In fact, I did follow along and did the first 20 minutes of the DVD. I really do like it. I have kept the DVD next to my computer on my desk and I am making a serious effort to practice everyday. Especially on those days when I can't make it to the gym!

It seems like not only a good workout for those who sew but for people who sit in front of a computer as well.

I've never done yoga before and was pleased to see that it wasn't what I always thought it was-much more motion than I expected. It actually looked to be a nice, well rounded workout focusing on just about all major muscle groups.

Hi Kat, Receiving your e-mail tells me you and your family made it home safely.  I enjoyed taking your class, and I have used the “legs up the wall” at the knitting conference I just attended.  It really works well for low back pain.

Now that I am home as well, I have returned to work at my naturopath’s office where I am now learning biofeedback.

Thank you for sharing your time and talents with the ASG.  I look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Hi Kat -

I was in your class the first day of the conference right in the front row...(I can see my backside in the photo!)   I have practiced yoga and taken weekly classes for about 10 years and I thought your class was excellent.  The information you gave was thoughtful and insightful and very thorough - quite a challenge for a group with such varied backgrounds and all different ages and physical/mental levels!

Just wanted you to know how I appreciated your class and your "energy"!

Keep up the wonderful work!

Hi Kat,

I am also a Robinson!  I really enjoyed the class.  I am not so big on Yoga as I usually fall over trying to do the moves but you presented it in a very non-scary way.  It feels like something I can do now.  I am not quite ready to jump on the band wagon yet but I’m closer.  May be by the next convention.  I hope that you enjoyed your time with us sewists.

Thanks,

Louise Robinson
